Research indicates that the presence of a school dog can offer numerous benefits, such as reducing stress, improving social skills, and providing comfort and companionship.

Connie has successfully completed training with The Dog Mentor and currently works with us on Thursdays and Fridays, with plans to gradually increase her presence over time. She participates in various activities throughout the school day, including:

  • Assisting in reading programs where students can read aloud to her
  • Participating in therapy sessions to support children’s emotional needs
  • Going for walks around the school grounds to help children become classroom-ready
  • Serving as a reward for students with 100% weekly attendance

Mrs. Evans, Miss O’Connor, and Mr. Broadbent are Connie’s trained handlers at the school. Additionally, staff members are welcome to take her for walks and enjoy cuddles during break times.

If you would like more information regarding Connie, please view the documents below or contact the school office.
